Modi was speaking after the inauguration of the three-day AYUSH Global Investment and Innovation Summit at Mahatma Mandir here in the presence of Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth and Director General of the World Health Organization Dr Tredos Ghebreyesus.

“AYUSH” means Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. India has a central ministry dedicated to these systems of alternative medicine. “India will soon introduce the AYUSH mark, which will give authenticity to the country’s quality AYUSH products. The mark will be given to products that are checked using the latest technology. are buying quality AYUSH products,” Modi said. “Traditional medicine has helped increase tourism in Kerala. This power is all over India, in every corner of India. ‘Heal in India’ can become a big brand of this decade. Wellness centers based on Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, etc. , can be very popular,” the prime minister said.

The special “AYUSH visa” will help those who wish to undergo traditional treatments in India, he said.

The opportunities for investment and innovation in the field of AYUSH are limitless as the country has seen unprecedented growth in the production of AYUSH medicines, supplements and cosmetics, the Prime Minister said. “Before 2014, the AYUSH sector was under $3 billion. Today it is also over $18 billion,” he said. There are also opportunities for investment and innovation in supply chain management, AYUSH-based diagnostic tools and telemedicine, Modi said. The Union Ministry of AYUSH has also taken steps to encourage the culture of start-ups in the field of traditional medicine, and an incubation center developed by the All India Institute of Ayurveda was inaugurated recently. , he noted. “India is an era of unicorns. In 2022, so far, 14 Indian start-ups have joined the unicorn club. I’m sure unicorns will emerge very soon from our AYUSH start-ups,” said said Modi.

It is very important that farmers involved in the production of medicinal plants have the possibility to easily connect to the market,” he said.

The new “AYUSH Aahar” category introduced by the FSSAI in its regulations last week will help producers of herbal nutritional supplements, Modi said. The recently established AYUSH Export Promotion Council will encourage exports and help find overseas markets, the prime minister added. The government will create a network of AYUSH parks to encourage research and give a new direction to AYUSH manufacturing, he said.
